When Seeing Isn’t Believing

(message begins 30:15)  Luke 16:25, John 8:31-32
Many people find it hard to believe. In anything. Some find it hard to believe because of the illusion of intellectual certainty. What is truth is a huge challenge in today’s world. It has gotten to be where we have a psychological hunger to know, to be sure.  Here’s the reality: Faith will ALWAYS be required in any decision to accept any information.
Many people find it hard to believe because of the lack of crucial God and biblical information. Today’s internet searches have little about who God is and what Christ did. Some information is intentionally misrepresented. (Read Evidence That Demands a Verdict or Is Atheism Dead?)
Many people find it hard to believe because of the lack of evidence in the lives of Christians today. Christianity? where’s the difference? where’s the transformation? The dis-confirming evidence is so easy to see. Satan loves that.
Here’s the key: believing is not just what we believe in our minds but also what is in our hearts. We struggle in our hearts in God’s goodness, His providence, His provision, His guidance, His presence. It’s what our hearts need to say ‘Yes!’ to. Confidence instead of certainty. Confidence brings freedom! Believing is all about how we live what we believe.

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.  And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31-32
