Upward: Willingness Brings Power

John 13:34  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”   How can we love as Christ did? We can’t. But we can with the power He gives us, rather than depending on our human power. Still it is on us to show Jesus’ love to all who come into our lives.  The Spirit is waiting on us to be willing, to say “Do what You will in my life.”  The standard says: “I refuse to be unforgiving. I am incapable of allowing anyone to suffer alone.” To be willing to love like Jesus is humanly really hard. But, the blessing and joy comes when we say yes. Our part comes when we do these five things. Then God is all in with us.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.  Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[a] Do not be conceited.
