Colossians 1:27 “For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.” An incredible statement coming from someone who at one time wanted to kill Christians. The actions of all people can be seen as a balance scale of choices : pleasure or purpose. This includes the emotions we choose. This includes the thoughts we choose to have. All are manifested in the actions we do. All fall into these two categories. Both can be worthy, both can have value. The pleasure side of the scale is most often comes out of self-interest. The purpose side of the scale is most often beyond the self.
Yet, reality tells us all acts have an element of self-interest, including those that require self-sacrifice. As history continues towards skepticism and pessimism, where worldwide trauma is everywhere, humans are moving more and more towards narcissism. Self controls wants. Me vs. meaning. What are we missing? What is the point? (King Solomon’s Meaningless Declaration Ecclessiastes 1-2)
The balance of our life still remains. Our hunger, our desire is that it is in balance. That our lives count for something. Hope needs to be real, proven. God’s Word is one of HOPE. The Message of the entire Bible is: this is possible. I can do something of value. I have hope. “And this is the secret: Christ lives in you.” We have the hope of the likeness of God–to make a difference!
Everything written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us strength to go on. They encourage us and give us hope.” Romans 15:4
