Luke 18:18-30
When we open the Word of God, we have an expectation to meet the Lord. Our attitude is one of believing He knows best for us. Our focus is to listen for His instructions. Our response is to make a decision–a yes or a no to what He says. He will lead us but it is our decision on how we respond. Will we miss out if we say ‘no’? Are we only looking for His good promises without responding to His ‘assignments’? The story of the Young Rich Ruler teaches us about someone looking for an answer and when he received Jesus’ answer he walked away. Had he made a decision or was he in a place of contemplation, of indecision?
What is He telling you to do? Forgive? Quit something? Give attention to something or someone? Share your faith story? End a habit or behavior? And perhaps you are in a place of indecision too. Rationalization can delay your response. We so easily are tempted to rationalize away our answer to our Lord. Or are you saying, “Whatever You say Lord”?
Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.Psalm 103:20-21
Is God saying…?
It’s time to—
There is something more to do—
You need to let go—
Stop, stop that—
Come, come here
