A Divine Commission: A True Partnership

(sermon begins 27:00)

Asking or claiming in prayer? Both. There is a waiting time as we move from asking to being bold of assurance when we pray. Amen–So Be It!  Going from be uncertain to have complete confidence with our requests is part of discovering God’s faithfulness with our prayers. Faith is the turning point. The faith God gives. God used His words at Creation. As image-bearers of the Creator, He gave us power in our words to be in partnership in the affairs of the world He created. Believe the promises Jesus gave His followers: “if you remain in me…ask…to the Father’s glory.”

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.  John 15:7-8 (NLT)

I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.  John 15:16-17
