Hillside welcomes you to worship God with music and praise, hear God’s Word through our Pastors messages, and pray for each other and the world.

Are you looking for a church but aren’t sure what to expect? It is normal to feel a bit uneasy when you visit a new church. At Hillside here is what you can count on:
- Friendly, warm welcome
- A family atmosphere
- Teaching that challenges your mind and heart
- Teaching that comes from God’s Word
- Open-minded, non-judgmental interaction
Where shall I park?
We have a huge parking lot east of the building with marked spots as well as handicapped-designated parking. The short drive into the lot turns east of Crawford Avenue.
What should I wear?
People at Hillside are not concerned about wearing Sunday-best clothes. Some like to dress it up a notch and some choose what they’d wear to a ball game. People usually dress casually, but modestly – jeans and dress suits are equally welcomed.
What happens during the service?
Our worship begins with praise music and opening remarks from one of our pastors. We are led in prayer with time for private as well as corporate prayers. Children present are then invited to Discovery Zone (see more below) An offering is given as our response to God working in our lives. Two or three songs of praise prepare us for learning from God’s Word. This message is the center point of our worship—it’s goal being to bring us one step closer to where we are in our life. We close with song , a benediction, and time to say our hellos to each other.
What music will I hear?
Our praise and worship team sings with acoustic and/or electric guitars, drums, and at times piano. We lift up songs of praise from traditional hymns to contemporary Christian praise composers.
What do children do during worship? (our children are presently staying with families during our in-person worship)
Little ones, ages infant to 4, are welcomed and loved by our nursery staff and are usually dropped off before the service begins. They play in our well-equipped nursery until the parent picks them up.
School age children, kindergarten through 5th grade, gather together for games, Bible stories, snacks and activities in Discovery Zone Junior Church (in the lower level classroom area). Young teens are welcome to stay for the Sunday Message or they can help as an aide in Junior Church.
How long is your service?
Our service begins at 10:45; we are most often finished by noon.
What is unique about Hillside?
Visitors have often said how welcomed they have been coming here. We love God’s people—young, old, happy, sad, moving up or crashing down. Hillside has a very unique mix of people from different life experiences, and yet, they all feel very much at home with one another.
What if I’m not a Free Methodist or a Christian?
You are wanting to visit for a reason. We respect that. We believe that God has each of us on a journey; we are all at a different point along that road. You are welcome no matter where you are along that road. We look forward to having you here.
If you want to know more about what it means to be a believer of Christ, someone will take the time to answer any and all of your questions. If you are curious about what Free Methodism is all about, there are those ready to sit down with you to chat.
If I have a personal need to talk to a pastor, what should I do?
You can feel free to speak to one of our ushers before or after the service and he or she can direct you to one of our pastors or lay leaders.
