Faith Albano

Born and raised in Chicago, Faith and her husband Mike moved to Evanston when they married in 1976. They became members of Hillside Free Methodist Church over 17 years ago. Faith has been the church administrator for the past ten years and uses her extensive organizational skills to keep the church running smoothly.

Faith is also very active with the Hillside Food Pantry. She coordinates the volunteers on the distribution side of the pantry, picks up food from donor stores, and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.  She coordinates stocking of the huge volume of rescued food daily.

As the Lord has called her, she loves using her gifts and talents to serve in a variety of ways. She taught adult Bible study for 20 years, coordinates the church fellowship events, began a Meals Ministry for those in the church who may be in need after an illness or surgery, the birth of a baby, or a death in the family, and began a Prayer Shawl Ministry, making hand crocheted prayer shawls for women who are in need of love and support.

Faith loves to read and when she saw that there were other women in the church as well as friends who also love to read she began a women’s book club over 13 years ago. They have been meeting at the church every month since 2004. In addition to coordinating church activities and keeping everything up to date, Faith is active in the Sisters in Christ Women’s Group at Hillside, is on a committee in the church conference, has been a hospice volunteer for 5 years, and also enjoys gardening, quilting, crafting, and cooking in no particular order.

Faith and Mike are the parents of two grown children, both married. They reside in Evanston with their dog and cat.
