Spiritual Disciplines: Solitude and Silence

Psalms 46 Jesus shows us how to do this. Find a place to be alone. This is a spiritual discipline that most of us don’t even talk about. And for those of us who seek to be faithful see it as being busy for God, this idea can be foreign to us. It’s about meeting with God. It’s about taking time so that God can weed out from us the things that separate us from Him. It’s about preparing us to go back into the world to be His light and salt. It frees us from the perspective that NOW is more important than our future. It releases control to our Loving Father. That can be scarey, giving up our own control. It is hard to plan. It is hard to schedule into your day. Do it anyway! “Be still and know that I am God.” Invite Jesus to do the talking.
