Jonah: Lessons from the Belly of a Fish

Jonah 2- Jonah prays, cries out to God in desperation, in the belly of the great fish. What else would one do in that situation?  Why did Jonah pray before he was thrown overboard? When you get out of the habit of communicating with God, it’s hard to face Him. God’s deliverance from the fish is clearly a miracle.

If you find yourself in the belly of a fish – in a desperate, tight place with no way out–only dark; this is when your self is taken out of the picture, because there is nothing, absolutely nothing you can do. The disobedient find themselves in a place where there is no self-rescue. You discover that trusting God is the only option. The darkest place begins sincere prayer.
