Jonah 4 – the Pouting Prophet. Jonah wanted to live in a world where people get what they deserve. Why do innocent people have to suffer and die, while evil people live. In this chapter Jonah was angry at God for loving Jonah’s enemies.
The very fact that the Ninevites listened to the warnings from Jonah was amazing. They truly were repenting. When he saw this he became furious. He wanted evil punished. He didn’t believe they were sincere. He quarreled with God because God behaved like God, instead of behaving like Jonah. He missed the Big Picture.
The power of the Holy Spirit can change our perspective from just seeing what is right in front of us to what God desires.
