John 21:1-14 Jesus revealed Himself to have power over Creation and all created things when He was with His disciples. He revealed a power that was greater than any other king that lived on earth. Why did He show His disciples that He was a great Fisherman? What did He want to teach them about catching fish? How can His power over Creation reflect on how we respond to Him as King? He was the opposite of human great kings: He was poor and sought to love the poor; He was not a military leader; He reached out to the forgotten; He used love to change people, not force.
He asks us to fish like He does – to fish for people who need recognition and love. He was Lord over all but He cared about those that were not accepted; He calls us to do the same.
